Flip Tip Transcript:

Mike: Hey, it’s Mike Hambright from FlipNerd.com and we have a quick VIP tip to share with you from Justin Williams who’s going to share a tip on getting others to solve problems for you.
Justin: Here’s my tip, I have several people that work for me. People are always trying to figure out, “How in the world are able to accomplish so much? How do you count on these people to do so much for you?” You and I were just talking right now and I said something that’s huge that really helps me is, nobody on my team is allowed to come to me with a question, ever. That sounds kind of funny, right? I’ve come to find that thinking is the biggest most difficult yet overlooked thing that most people don’t really… They don’t really notice the importance or value but I don’t know about you but when I’m required to think too much about too many things, I just kind of lose it.
So, it’s their problem, they’ve got to come to me, they can come to me but it has to be with a solution, because people they have a question in their mind and they come to you right away. It’s like they’ve got this monkey on their back and want to come throw it on to you. I think Dave Ramsey used the monkey-on-the-back thing. But if they walk in with that monkey, they’re going to leave with that monkey, right? So they have to come to me, they’re like, “Hey. Here’s a situation. This is what I think we should do. How does that sound, right?” And 95% of the time, I’ll say, “It sounds great. Do it.”
Mike: Solve it themselves.
Justin: Yeah. Most things, it could be either one. It’s like, do you want fried eggs or do you want sunny side up? Who cares, right? Maybe you have a preference but you know, it doesn’t matter. They have to think through it of course but it’s like, don’t bring that problem to me. You figure the problem out and most people are smart. Most people can figure these things out. You just have to empower them and I will usually, even If I’m kind of like, “I may have done this.” If it’s even close, I’ll go with their suggestions. I want to empower them and let them know they can think on their own.
