What’s up, everybody? Hey, welcome back to the show. Today, it’s raining here. Made me think about rainy days, the power of building your business to the point to where rainy days don’t impact you anymore and they never will again. That’s what we’re going to talk about today.

What’s up, everybody? Hey, Mike Hambright here from flipnerd.com. Hey, we want to talk today about rainy days. As you can see, it’s raining here. You might not be able to tell, but it’s cold and nasty here in Dallas, unusually cold for this time of year. It’s actually supposed to get below freezing here in late October. And some years, it doesn’t even freeze here, let alone in October.
But I was just thinking about rainy days and how awesome it is once you build your business up to the point to where rainy days don’t impact you. And I’m not talking about literal rainy days as it is here today. I’m talking about figurative rainy days, where you can weather those storms, you have some downtime and something happens in your business where you have a little bit of a downturn or something happens in your personal life. Could be somebody gets sick, God forbid. And none of us want that. Could be a lot of different things. Right?
And so I’ll tell you that I find a lot of comfort in having built up my businesses to the point to where I can weather those rainy days. What it actually allows me to do as an entrepreneur is you guys know that I like to travel. I like to do cool things. I like really experiences more than anything, but the ultimate benefit of having businesses that are financially stable, that can weather some ups and downs is that it allows me to take more risk and it allows me to weather storms. So I’ve been blessed that nobody in my family has gotten sick, but I’m able to do things to help protect my family in the event that something is . . . that there’s a downturn or there’s an issue of some sort that we need to weather, some big expense pops up. It doesn’t break my family and force us to get a second job or go into a bunch of credit card debt or something like that. We’re able to weather those storms and that is a powerful thing.
That my friends, that is freedom. Freedom is not fancy cars. And flying on private jets and stuff like that, freedom is knowing that I have the security to take care of my family if I need to or I have the ability to help other people out in their situation if they need it and if I want to help them, if they need my help, I’m there. So that was fitting because it’s gloomy here and I was just thinking about potentially not even . . . I’m actually outside of my office now. I was thinking about not even going to the office today. Like it’s one of those days where it’s like, “Maybe I’ll just work from home and chill out.” I decided to come to the office because honestly, I love what I do. And I have some meetings this morning as well.
But it got me thinking just the figurative part of rainy days and how to weather those storms. And real estate investing is a perfect business for that. Right? You can make a lot of money with a relatively small number of deals. Now the key, the key though is building a business up beyond doing a deal here and there. And that’s what I teach a lot at FlipNerd and of course, everything we do, Investor Fuel Mastermind, all those things, is how to scale up a business that doesn’t provide you just a small level of freedom like, “Yeah, I had a good month, so everything’s good now.” How do you live that lifestyle and kind of eliminate that fear every single week, every single day, every single month? Because your business will be up and down. That’s just how this business is. It’s big-ticket items. So it’s a little bit of a roller coaster. But to where the worst down you have is still well within . . . allows you to live well within . . . cover your costs and there’s no real fear of you had a bad month, you’ve got to turn a whole bunch of stuff off.
It’s like how do you build your business to a point to where a bad month is doing two, three, four deals, easily cover all your costs, and not impact your life, your lifestyle, your family’s wellbeing, any of those things. So, anyway, I was thinking about that today. Do you have any thoughts on that? And the key is . . . and this is one of the things we teach, a lot of people are interested in real estate investing. A lot of people are real estate investors, but very few are consistently doing two, three, four, five deals a month. There’s people that are doing a couple of deals a year. There’s people that own a couple of rentals and they’ve owned them for years. There might be people that are doing a deal or two a month. Probably the deal or two a month is, you’re probably still working in your business way more than you should be. That’s not freedom. You own a job at this point. So those are the types of things we talk about.
