Mike: Welcome back to the REI classroom where experts from across the real estate investing industry teach you quick lessons to take your business to the next level, and now let’s meet today’s expert host.
Brian: Hi everyone my name is Brian Meidam with Plan B HomeBuyers, and today I’ll be your host with the REI classroom, and we are going to be talking about the subject: Is hiring a real estate coach worth it?

Brian: So is hiring a real estate coach worth it? Is it worth the investment? Well, I’m sure you’ve all heard of people like Warren Buffett. Well, actually he was coached by Ben Graham. Bill Gates was coached by Warren Buffett. Steve Jobs was coached by Andy Grove. Mark Zuckerberg, Mr. Facebook, he was coached by many people including Steve Jobs.
So I guess plain and simple, if you want to be successful, do what successful people do and hire a coach. I know some of you may be thinking, well Brian, you’re completely biased because you coach real estate investors. Well, I have been in this business since 2004, and at that time I made a decision to fire my employer, actually in 2007, and I still have the same coach that I have today as when I started out with.
Why? Well, I pay that person a lot of money, but they’ve helped me become successful. They see things my business that I’m not able to see because I’m simply too close to it. My business has grown every single year since I’ve started, and it’s not because I’m some genius. It’s because my coach is helping a lot along the way and has pushed me to hit the goals that I wanted to.
So how much should you pay your coach? Well, if the person that you hire to coach you in 12 months gets you to let’s say a 6 figure income that you weren’t making before, what’s that worth to you? Is that 10 grand, 20 grand, 50 grand, a full hundred grand?
I know what some of you are thinking right now is like, “Well, Brian, there’s lots of free information online. You don’t need to hire a coach. You can just get everything out there online.” Well, you know, free information online comes with a significant cost, and that cost is your time and how much time are you willing to give up in agony to try and figure it out.
The other part you can just hire a coach and instead of treading along, they’re going to help you really ramped up that business in a hurry and get you to the next level.
So I coach a small number of investors around the country in the real estate business, and when I’m talking with them, a common theme I hear is that they’re stuck. They just can’t get to that next level, and the issue for most of them is they don’t know what they don’t know. Again, they’re too close to their business, and until we start working together they can’t see everything that’s happening.
Just one thing that a real estate coach can do for you, besides the accountability and teaching you the I guess the tricks of the trade, and there really is no tricks, just being consistent and knowing what to do and when.
Time is our most valuable asset. So I say quit wasting your time and hire a real estate coach. They’ll get you where you need to be much, much faster, hold you accountable, and your progression track won’t be flatline.
So you owe it to yourself to get aligned with people that are giving what you want to achieve. So stop wasting your time and hire a coach.
